Testing Tool Solutions
These solutions are available for manufacturer-specific testing to ensure accurate communications and reporting to CEMS in line with the Zonke-A (ZAP) protocol.
TESTING TOOL 1
Testing Tool application simulates the behavior of the Central Electronic Monitoring System’s Site Data Logger hardware (SDL).
This simulation programme (running as a Windows application on a PC) emulates the actual hardware with the following differences.
Only one gaming machine may be connected to the PC via a COM port.
The simulator is much more lenient with regard to time-outs between adjacent characters of a message from the gaming machine. As the software is running in a Windows environment, exact timing cannot beguaranteed. Even on a fast, highly-specified PC, timing will depend upon what other programmes are running and the demands they place on the system. For this reason the software tolerates rather more time between the characters of a message than the actual SDL hardware does.
To connect the gaming machine to be tested to the PC an RS-232 serial cable is required.
Assuming the gaming machine has a standard 25-way, D-type connector and the PC has a standard 9-way, D-type connector the following connections must be made.
TESTING TOOL 2
Testing Tool 2 was developed to assist Games Manufacturers and Operators with testing during games development and testing of LPMs prior to installation. It has an advantage over Testing Tool 1 in that the SDL hardware is the same hardware used in production, thereby reducing the probability of defects going unnoticed.
LPMs are connected to the SDL via a RJ45 Connector using the standard Ethernet cabling. In addition, the SDL is connected to a standard Personal Computer (PC) which allows the behaviour of the Central Electronic Monitoring System (CEMS) to be simulated without requiring the advanced infrastructures required.
The following is required before Testing Tool 2 (TT2) can be used:
- SDL G2 with SKP, excl modem (supplied)
- Test Smart cards (supplied)
- PC to SDL communications cable (Ethernet cross over cable) (supplied)
- PC with at least one available network port (not supplied)
- Zonke Testing Tool 2 executable software (supplied)
- TT2 User Manual (supplied)
- LPM cables (not supplied)
- Profile and binary files of LPMs to be tested (manufacturer to supply)
Note: The TestingTool2.exe software expires annually.
TESTING TOOL 3
This application provides a ‘mirrored’ solution to the CEMS. This Training environment is designed purely for testing purposes and has an advantage over Testing Tool 1 and Testing Tool 2 in that the process of capturing users, employees, games, sites, etc. is identical to the Production Environment. Users are able to familiarise themselves with the CEMS system functionality without fear of compromising data integrity. The Training environment is located at the main host, hence the communications philosophy employed on the Training Environment is the same as that for the Production Environment.
